Remember I covered my mom’s boss/friend’s wedding? Well let me break it down for you.
- I charged her 1/3 of what weddings usually cost, because you know, I know her and it was really simple, economic wedding.
- I didn’t ask her to deposit 50% beforehand.
- It’s been 23 days. Cool, I waited until they were back from the honeymoon. They’ve been back for a week. I’ve sent her an e-mail telling her the pictures were ready, linked her to an online gallery and sent her “editing option”. I got no reply. Instead, she told my mom “she’d call me”. 6 days later, still waiting for the fuckin call.
- She owes me money. Money I need. I did the job. I deserve to be paid for it, right?
I hate this. I’m even embarrased to ask for the money.
You are a wonderful photographer. Don’t let her get out of paying you, you deserve to be paid for the job you did. You also didn’t charge her nearly as much as you could have, and she should know that and be thankful.
